Developing Your Emerging Research Ideas for Funding Proposal
Don’t let funding calls pass you by because you haven't had time to put the ideas in your head down in to a coherent proposal. This is an opportunity to spend a day taming your great research ideas. These may be ideas that you have been pondering for some time, have discussed with colleagues, but have not quite got them organised and on to paper. In this interactive session you will spend some time starting to work up your ideas in to a tangible proposal to put forward for funding.
During the day, through a combination of reflection, discussion and writing tasks you will
- Develop an emerging idea for a future research proposal
- Provide some structure to your idea
- Begin to refine it to appeal to a funder
We will specifically consider
- Funding applications: the anatomy of proposals, what happens in the review process: know your audience
- Your unique selling point: developing your research niche
- Planning your story: your "hook" and "golden thread"
- Refining your idea and including project plans
Please come with some ideas in your head and aim to leave ready to prepare a proposal when a relevant funding call arises
