Postdoc Talks – Unethical Behavior in Academia - Forms, Causes, and Countermeasures
In recent years, more and more cases of serious misconduct in academia have come to light. It is now obvious that these cases only reflect a deeper problem: an academic system in which some forms of unethical behavior are unlikely to be detected and sanctioned, and some forms are even encouraged and rewarded.
In this talk, Prof. Dr. Daniel Leising, co-author of the report on 'An analysis of functional relationships between systemic conditions and unethical behavior in German academia' commissioned by the German Psychological Society (DGPs), discusses some of the most dysfunctional properties of the current system and offer suggestions as to how it may be redesigned to function in better accordance with academic and basic human values.
Postdoc Talks: The online series provides an open platform for discussing topics central to the postdoctoral career path. You can gain insights from experts in the research landscape and the academic community, while also exchanging ideas with other postdocs.
