Me and My Supervisor
In this workshop, doctoral researchers will focus on the importance and the complexity of the doctoral supervisory relationship. The workshops will cover three main aspects:
- active design of the supervisory relationship
- navigating hierarchies
- effective communication
Participants in the workshop will be introduced to strategies for establishing and maintaining a productive relationship with their supervisors. They will learn how to navigate the sometimes challenging relationship with their supervisor, address problems professionally, and build positive interactions. Advice is given on the basic structure of the supervisory relationship in Germany.

Stefanie Henauer completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and her Research Master's degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at Maastricht University, the Netherlands.
Since graduating in 2020, she has worked for several years as a research assistant in brain research at the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research and the Mainz University Medical Centre and later as a project manager in the Department of Cardiology at the Mainz University Medical Centre. Her tasks among others included the coordination of projects at the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK) and interdisciplinary and inter-institutional communication. As an alumna of the Claussen-Simon Foundation, she is also actively involved in the foundations’ activities and events related to education, science and art, and coordinates regional community events.
She has regularly organised workshops in various professional, interdisciplinary and educational contexts. She is also actively engaged in the areas of diversity and individual challenges in the academic system.
